Chapter 31 Li Wei changed his clothes
Chapter 31 Li Wei changed his clothes
What would you like to eat?
"Go get your clothes first."
Tessa looked at Levi with slight surprise.
"Watch where you're going!"
Li Wei really didn't understand why these people, from Wesker to Tessa, had such impolite driving habits.
Tessa calmly turned her head and continued looking at the road, but the corners of her mouth that inadvertently turned up revealed a hint of barely suppressed laughter.
Her Santa Claus always seems to bring "surprises".
"Okay, where to?"
1446 Northwest Street.
"Overton's core area?"
"What? Are you also planning to 'refuse' me a ride?"
Li Wei immediately became alert.
Tessa smiled.
"I just haven't heard of any good tailors there."
"Recommended by Antonio."
"Okay, I think I know who it is."
Now it was Li Wei's turn to be surprised.
"Didn't you just say you didn't know?"
Tessa stopped the car, turned to the side, rested her chin on her hand, and looked at Li Wei with seductive eyes.
"Women with secrets are more attractive, don't you think?"
"Riddler, get out of Miami!"
Li Wei suddenly thought of a game he had played before he transmigrated... The game was great, but the Riddler achievement was really too damn torturous!
Tessa didn't seem to care much, and instead chuckled at Levi's flustered appearance.
"Alright, your 'sled' has arrived at its destination."
After Tessa finished speaking, he opened the passenger door from the driver's side.
Li Wei got out of the car with a completely bewildered expression.
When he looked up and saw the sign, he knew who it was.
Handmade in San Diego.
He was one of the four old men who played cards at Domino Park and one of the "original 76ers".
Santiago Rojas.
Of course, aside from inferring from the name on the signboard, what truly played a decisive role was that Santiago himself was standing at the store entrance with his arms crossed, looking very unhappy, glaring at him.
"Li Wei, don't you have anything to say?"
"Well, it's certainly not very polite to wake an old man from his sleep in the middle of the night to prepare my clothes. I'm sorry. But you should hold Antonio responsible for this; he's the one who sent me to find you."
"You two are both bastards!"
Despite saying this, Santiago still limped open the store door and went inside first.
Li Wei didn't follow silently; instead, he asked a question directly.
"How long will it take? I hitched a ride here, so it would be impolite if it takes too long."
Santiago grew increasingly dissatisfied.
"Are you underestimating me, 'Quick Hand' Santiago? I'm not just fast at drawing my gun! Ten minutes at most!"
"receive!"
Li Wei responded and turned to Tessa, saying something.
"Wait for me for ten minutes."
Tessa smiled.
"It's okay to wait a little longer, as long as you leave the rest of the night for me."
"No, I need to sleep."
As Li Wei spoke, he turned and walked into the store.
Tessa blinked, not angry, but rather amused.
Then, watching Li Wei's figure disappear at the shop entrance, she couldn't help but tilt her head and ask herself a question.
Why does this seemingly crazy "Santa Claus" have such a strong attraction for me?
Because he gave him a "gift"?
No, many men have given her all sorts of "gifts" and even "promises," but in the end, she still didn't choose her own partner.
Did he reshuffle the Miami gangs with just a few phone calls?
This is nothing special; I can do it myself.
Because he is very powerful?
That's the standard for choosing a mate, not for humans.
Finally, Tessa figured it out.
It's that kind of "reckless" lifestyle.
No worries, no restrictions, do whatever you want.
He became the person she dreamed of living, so she couldn't help but want to step into his life and live like him.
"Maybe... I'm a lunatic too."
Tessa eventually gave herself a "diagnosis," but she found that she didn't dislike it.
"Knock knock".
A knock on the car window pulled Tessa out of her thoughts.
She turned her head and saw a waist that looked somewhat familiar.
Then, bending down, Danielle's slightly chubby face came into view.
Parking is not allowed here.
Danielle's voice sounded somewhat muffled through the car window.
Tessa smiled, rolled down the car window, and took out two hundred-dollar bills from his handbag and handed them to her.
"Here's the fine. Keep the change; use it to buy a coffee."
"I don't have traffic enforcement authority, and I'm not issuing a ticket. I'm just kindly reminding you that you shouldn't park in a no-parking zone, Tesa."
Tessa glanced at the policewoman, who was "cutely obedient to the point of being endearing," and smiled as he took his money back.
"Thank you, but I don't intend to do so."
Tessa thought that if it were Levi, he would probably do the same.
Danielle was clearly taken aback.
However, after she realized what was happening, she still tried to correct Tessa's behavior.
"This is illegal!"
"Isn't it illegal for the detective and gangsters to conspire to reshuffle the local gang power structure, take up gang positions, and prepare to establish new 'rules'?"
Tessa's words left Danielle speechless and red-faced.
"This is different!"
Danielle had been holding it in for a long time, and only managed to utter this one sentence.
"Why is it different? Because you're Danielle Harris? Because your father caught a major drug lord? Because you swore an oath at your police academy graduation to carry on your father's legacy?"
"Admit it, Danielle. You've lost faith in the 'laws' of America and are ready to establish your own set of 'rules'."
"Essentially, we're the same kind of people. It's just that I never hide it, while you're still immersed in your 'good detective' dream."
Tessa remained calm and composed throughout, even leisurely lighting a cigarette, taking a puff, and gently exhaling a smoke ring towards Danielle's face.
The smoke rings passed through Danielle's face, drifting down to her neck, like a chain around her neck.
But Danielle calmed down, thought for a moment, and finally shook her head, dispelling the smoke rings.
"You're right, I have no right to think I'm 'clean'. But right is right, and wrong is wrong. I broke the law, and you broke the law too. You may think I have no right or qualification to tell you what to do, but the fact remains that you broke the law! So, please move your car! Ms. Hamilton!"
Tessa blinked, and she began to look at the still somewhat "naive" girl in front of her with new respect.
But Tessa still has no intention of leaving.
"Because you're a detective? Is this your job?"
"Yes."
"Very well, then you can deal with my illegal parking problem after you're transferred to the traffic department."
Danielle was once again speechless.
Tessa rolled up the car window again, ignoring the conflicted Danielle, and took out her lipstick to touch up her makeup in front of the rearview mirror.
Just as she pursed her lips, making sure her makeup was still perfect, Li Wei came out.
The gunmetal gray Italian soft-structure suit doesn't need shoulder pads or a fitted design because Li Wei's own physique can carry it off perfectly, and his proportions are also perfect.
Underneath the suit was a white, wide-collared shirt, revealing a portion of her sharply defined collarbone.
He changed his military boots into black derby shoes, which, although still "formal shoes worn by soldiers," matched his clothes well and suited Li Wei's temperament.
Tessa felt that one more reason she was attracted to him was that he was handsome.
