Chapter 193 Facing the Star Devourer
Chapter 193 Facing the Star Devourer
Chapter 193 Facing the Star Devourer
Loki sat atop the 100-meter-tall Statue of Liberty in the center of Liberty Island, off the coast of New York City, admiring the view of the city across the water.
The torch held aloft by the Statue of Liberty is topped with cold metal, while the raging fire on the opposite bank is real and tangible.
Loki's new master possessed divine power even greater than Odin's. After accepting his energy and becoming his messenger, Loki's first thought was of Earth, the place where he had suffered a major defeat.
Earth is called Midgard by the Asgardian gods, meaning "Midgard," the center of the Nine Realms, and something Odin cherishes.
Nothing could bring him more pleasure than the destruction here.
He only wanted to kill his brother, seize the throne, and gain his father Odin's approval. What did he do wrong?
As Loki was thinking this, he was completely unaware that a massive bolt of lightning was about to descend from the sky the next second.
Boom!
The thunder roared, and the torch held aloft by the Statue of Liberty acted like a lightning rod, drawing in the vast majority of the electricity.
This attack sent Loki, who was watching from the sidelines, spinning him around and causing him to plummet headfirst into the water.
Thor, wielding Mjolnir and carrying the Spear of Destiny, arrived at the scene before Joey.
Bolt-struck Thor, like a raging thunderbolt, looked at his drowning younger brother, his eyes filled with anger and despair:
"You have made a terrible mistake, my brother."
The courtyard was a treasure in the father's heart, and everyone in Asgard knew about it.
Loki, however, led Galactus to this place, which was undoubtedly a complete betrayal of his father. "I am not your brother!" Thor's mention of blood ties only made Loki angrier and had no other effect.
Driven by his magic, a frost giant hundreds of meters tall emerged from the sea, its massive, sky-covering hand reaching out to grab Thor.
"Don't you remember? I told you, I'm not even Odin's son, an Asgardian god. I'm just a frost giant from Jotunheim!"
Another bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, blasting the frost giant that had appeared on the sea surface to pieces. Countless wisps of mist and ice fragments exploded in the air, splashing countless water droplets on the sea surface.
The excess electrical energy from this attack spread directly into the sea, causing a large number of fish to rise to the surface, their white bellies exposed.
Even the unconscious Luo Ji himself floated on the water, bubbling towards the sea.
Thor swooped down, trying to grab Loki's robe and pull him up: "It would be even better if you remembered that water conducts electricity."
My younger brother.
Loki has never been a god skilled in battle. If things really came down to it, he wouldn't stand a chance against Thor, even after being empowered by cosmic energy.
"I'll always remember!"
As Thor approached Loki, he felt a sharp pain on his side and a muffled groan. He then realized that the familiar dagger had pierced his waist.
Loki materialized from the mist on the sea surface, and the unconscious Loki figure beneath his feet instantly vanished into nothingness.
"On the contrary, it's you who never learns from your mistakes, my brother."
Loki plunged the dagger even deeper, and brazenly prepared to reach for the Spear of Destiny on Thor's back.
This action further enraged Thor, who threw Mjolnir in front of him.
Loki's soft chuckle came from behind: "Are you in too much pain to aim properly?"
Before Loki could finish his mocking words, the flying hammer circled the Earth once and slammed into Loki's back in an instant.
"Woolen cloth!"
Judging from the feel of the hammer and Loki's unexpected scream, Thor was quite certain that he had hit the real deal this time.
Mjolnir pushed Loki from behind and flew straight towards Liberty Island, smashing a large hole in the base of the Statue of Liberty before the man and his hammer crashed to the ground.
"Let me go!"
No matter how much Loki struggled while lying on the ground, he couldn't budge the hammer on his back even an inch; he was completely immobilized.
Kama!
As lightning struck, Thor's heavy footsteps gradually approached from behind. Loki, pinned beneath Thor's hammer, could not see his brother from behind.
This made him feel uneasy, and he was even willing to just raise his hands in surrender: "Okay, I'm not playing anymore!"
"Was all of this just a prank to you?"
His good-for-nothing younger brother treated every confrontation with him as a deadly game with the word "safe" attached.
Thor pressed the tip of the Spear of Fate against Loki's neck and sighed softly, "By Odin."
Thor has been furious countless times and wanted to teach Loki a lesson, but he always softens when his brother begs for mercy.
"Once this is over, I will definitely settle the score with you!"
After uttering those words with a fierce tone, Thor retrieved the Spear of Fate that was pressing against Loki's throat and Mjolnir from his back.
"Get as far away as possible, Loki. My patience has its limits."
"As you wish, my brother."
Upon hearing this, Luo Jiji scrambled to his feet, then without hesitation turned and launched a sneak attack: "Ha, just kidding—"
Boom!
Thor's hammer, which was prepared in advance, collided with Loki's forehead with a dull thud. The hard Uru steel caused the young Loki to fall asleep immediately.
Thor shrugged after doing all this: "I knew it."
Thor knew his brother's character well, and he said, "There's a limit to patience." These words reached Loki's ears.
The next second it will be interpreted as "increasing the intensity".
It's difficult to strike the god of trickery with a hammer, but it's very easy to make him run into it.
Having dealt with his troublesome younger brother, Thor calculated the time and figured Joey should be almost fully recovered. He swung his hammer and flew towards Galactus, ready for the next real battle.
As soon as he took off, Thor saw a dazzling light flash across his field of vision, and a silver-white giant of light, as tall as Galactus, appeared on the edge of the city.
At this point, Galactus was still preoccupied with manipulating the mass-energy conversion tower to dismantle Earth's matter; human attacks were meaningless to him.
The giant of light in the distance, though threatening, has not yet attacked.
As the giant of light, carefully dodging the evacuating pedestrians and the towering buildings around it, gradually approached, Galactus even had the leisure to greet it:
"Ah, traveler from the distant Land of Light, I salute you."
The one controlling the body now is not Joey, but the original: "You know me?"
Having traveled through countless worlds, Galactus is incredibly knowledgeable and knows far more than any being could imagine:
"I know very little, just some scattered information, certainly not as much as I know about the Kryptonian inside you."
The planet devourer, who has traversed countless worlds, witnessed the destruction of Krypton and even visited the homeworld of the New Gods, where he fought against Darkseid of Apokolips.
"There are plenty of planets in the universe that meet your requirements, and countless of them lack intelligent life. If you're only after food, why must it come at the cost of nearly ten billion casualties?"
Ultraman still couldn't give up trying to persuade him; he simply couldn't imagine why a being as powerful as Galactus could be so heartless.
"We can help you find a planet that meets the criteria but has no intelligent life for you to devour, as long as you stay away from that planet."
"No way! My appetite never stops, and I will not leave my fate to be decided by others."
Galactus has employed countless messengers, and almost all of them will betray him one day. The promises made by this Ultraman are nothing but a bubble in the water.
"Besides, the existence, emotions, stories, and future of these mortals are all meaningless, and you should know that clearly."
After you've witnessed enough of the world's rise and fall, all stories and existence naturally become as fleeting and meaningless as clouds.
Even in the current situation -
A Kryptonian, accompanied by his companions, tried to protect Earth from being devoured by him; this wasn't the first time the planet-devourer had experienced something like this.
He only wanted to devour this Earth. In the multiverse, there are countless Earths. What difference would it make if this one were gone?
The First Generation knew the negotiations had broken down: "It's regrettable to hear such words. Your strength and wisdom are unparalleled, yet you succumb to instinct."
It's unimaginable that the power of love and peace could solve all of this.
Joey in the Sea of Hearts had anticipated this situation. Although he knew it wouldn't be easy to win, he was still itching to fight—"I told you, why are you wasting your breath talking to him! Substitute!"
The giant of light's eyes flashed and disappeared, and when they lit up again, the consciousness that controlled this body had already changed.
Joey took over the body, swiftly kicking over the mass-energy conversion tower and interrupting Galactus's energy absorption process:
"Still eating? Take this punch first!"
