North American detective: From scoundrel to god among men

Chapter 50 Father-Son Conversation in the Study

Chapter 50 Father-Son Conversation in the Study

The knocking was clear and forceful, two short knocks followed by one long one. Titus knew this was a code used by the staff at the Continental Hotel.

John opened the door, and an elderly man with gray hair walked in, followed by three strong young men.

The old man removed his hat and bowed to John and Titus.

"Mr. John, it's been a long time."

John nodded without saying a word. The old man glanced at Titus, curious but didn't ask any further questions; this was a basic rule in their line of work.

Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask, and keep things confidential.

Next, the cleaners started dealing with the broken dolls; it was mostly the young people doing the work while the older people gave instructions.

Experienced staff mentoring newcomers—it seems mainland Chinese hotels place great importance on talent development!

As Titus pondered this, he watched with great interest how they did things, thinking that learning more would surely be beneficial and might come in handy.

The young boys put on thick black nitrile gloves, laid out a specially made black polyethylene body bag on the ground, and then laid a layer of thick transparent plastic wrap. The two boys, one in front and one behind, dragged the doll by the feet all the way to the plastic wrap, while the one behind used a mop to clean up the bloodstains.

For cleaning bloodstains, they used a specially formulated bio-trace removal spray that was not available on the market. At least, Titus had never seen such a spray before, but he could roughly guess its main ingredients: strong oxidants, inhibitors, and surfactants.

It's nothing more than a few things; its core function is to destroy hemoglobin so that luminol reagent no longer reacts.

The boys then carefully wrapped each doll individually in cling film, and placed the murder weapons, such as pistols and daggers, inside body bags. They then sealed the bags with a professional hydraulic seal cutter, one doll per bag.

Finally, they moved the sealed body bags into the large truck that had arrived earlier. Titus noticed that the truck was made of stainless steel and had special silent wheels. The combination of the two made it almost like a ghost, and no sound could be heard.

This concludes the dinner service. Afterwards, there are housekeeping services available in the market, such as cleaning up broken glass, removing dust, and disposing of broken and useless furniture.

Mainland hotels, adhering to high-end service standards, will not charge any fees for housekeeping services after dinner.

"Damn, that's professional!" Titus thought. "The Continental Hotels Group truly lives up to its reputation as a global organization. Their service is professional and attentive. Even I, an FBI agent, couldn't find any obvious flaws for the time being. I've really learned a lot..."

Will you contact me again soon?

Goodbye, Charlie.

John handed twelve gold coins to the old man, and Titus learned his name from this. Charlie asked no more questions and drove away from John's villa.

After dinner, the two of them went to the Continental Hotel in New York.

This is a small iron-shaped building, designed in the Art Deco style of the American Prohibition era in the last century. The granite exterior walls are paired with bronze window frames, exuding a sense of old money and history.

The two entered the hotel, where the receptionist was a black concierge named Charon, dressed in a well-tailored suit without any logos and wearing frameless black glasses. Notably, Charon was bald, which undoubtedly made him seem more reliable. Titus wondered to himself if Charon had deliberately shaved his head for this reason.

"Mr. Jack Vizra, welcome back again!"

Charon paused, looking at John beside Titus. Suppressing his joy at seeing an old friend, he glanced at the screen on the platform and asked:

"John Wicker, you've booked two nights?"

"That's right, we'll add more later depending on the situation."

"Yes, sir."

"The owner here hasn't changed, has he?"

"No, sir, it was renovated four years ago."

After learning the basic information, John didn't ask any more questions. Charon smiled politely and nodded, handing John the room key; the room number was 918.

Meanwhile, outside the hotel, a man wearing sunglasses and with his trench coat collar turned up watched the scene unfold with piercing eyes. Without a doubt, he was the assassin hired by Vigo.

The story goes back to when John booked dinner in a luxury Manhattan apartment, a thousand miles away from the villa.

Vigo called his son Joseph into the study.

John, the legendary Black Glove and a major contributor to his current status, is someone Vigo knows all too well how formidable he is.

Inside the study, Joseph casually walked up to Vigo. His loving father, Vigo, stood up from his chair and stared straight at him until Joseph felt a chill run down his spine!

"Father, what's wrong?"

"What's wrong? Look at the mess you've made!"

Joseph looked bewildered, his blue eyes filled with uncertainty. He instinctively fastened the collar of his blue shirt to prevent his sexy golden chest hair from being exposed.

"Let me remind you, what exactly did you do last night? Think carefully!"

"Yesterday... oh! I wrecked an old geezer's house, and now he's retaliating? Leave it to me, Father, don't worry, I'll handle this perfectly!"

Joseph smiled confidently.

"Do you know who he is!?"

Joseph shook his head. Vigo suppressed his anger, tapped the desk, and slowly asked:

"You knocked him unconscious?"

"That's right, we smacked that old geezer while he was sleeping!"

"And then you wrecked his house?"

"easy."

"And he even killed his dog?"

"The main problem is that the dog is too noisy."

"And he even stole his 1969 Ford Mustang?"

Joseph was completely unaware that, without his knowledge, Vigo had accurately stated the seriousness of John's vehicle.

He looked into his father's eyes and solemnly corrected him:

"You've got it wrong, Father! It wasn't just a casual thing; I did it to steal the car."

"Father, don't worry. Although I may seem idle, I've never forgotten the job you gave me selling luxury cars. This Ford Mustang is what I intend to give you!"

Vigo let out an Azu-style princess laugh:

"Hahaha~ I see."

Seeing Vigo's 'friendly' smile, Joseph suddenly had an idea and said earnestly:

"After working for a while, the son believes he can now share some of the burden of the weapons sales business with his father!"

Joseph patted his chest, his eyes gleaming with confidence.

"Father, I might just have the potential to become a gangster boss!"

Vigo couldn't help but laugh, and Joseph followed suit with a forced smile.

He felt confident this time, after all, his kind father was smiling so happily today!

"You mean you stole his car, smashed up his house, killed his dog, beat him up, and then, without even killing him, just swaggered away!"

Vigo could no longer contain his anger, and with a loud "smack," he slapped Joseph hard across the face!

Joseph was knocked to the ground, covering his reddened cheeks, staring at his father in surprise, his pupils glistening with tears.

"Father, believe me, I might have..."

"Shut up!"

Vigo took a big gulp of wine and let out several long sighs.

A moment later, he grabbed Joseph, pulled him into his arms, and pulled his hair, saying:

"Joseph, you have no idea what kind of demon you've provoked..."

"And this time John has another person with him, using a fake identity called Jack Vizra. He has a very powerful background, and I haven't been able to find out his real information yet!"

Vigo suppressed his anger and said through gritted teeth, each word distinct and deliberate:

"Just go! OK?"

After Joseph left, Vigo leaned back in his recliner, pondered for a moment, picked up the landline on his desk, and dialed a number:

"Marcus, I want you to kill John Wick. Two gold coins (2 million US dollars)."

After hesitating for a moment, he dialed another number:

"Perkins, investigate a contracted assassin named Jack Vizra. If you have the chance, you can take him out first and then investigate. After you succeed... 2 gold coins (200 million US dollars)."

This put pressure on Titus and his team once again.
