Chapter 18 The Cat is Under Control
Chapter 18 The Cat is Under Control
"Ding-dong~ Ding-dong~"
The melodious school bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class.
It's Friday, and the college students who don't have classes in the afternoon have already started enjoying their wonderful weekend, much to the chagrin of the students in the next classroom.
Nan Jiayu walked side by side with her roommates on the way to the cafeteria.
Her original plan was to have lunch with Su Tianqing at the cafeteria, and then take the subway to the center of Rongcheng to spend the whole day there.
But the little fox said he had an urgent matter to attend to and had to go back. He didn't even have lunch and hurriedly ran off by himself.
Sitting in the cafeteria with her roommates, eating a small meal, the petite catgirl felt a little down.
She said she had something urgent to do. What could it be?
Is it a family matter? But Tianqing has always lived alone.
Could it be... that she'll message me later saying she suddenly has something to do and won't be going this afternoon...?
"...Jiayu, don't you love the braised fish in the cafeteria the most? Why aren't you eating it?"
Roommate A keenly noticed the catgirl's state beside her, nudged her shoulder, and said.
"Huh? Ah... Ah... Chew chew chew..."
Nan Jiayu suddenly snapped out of her daze, quickly agreed twice, put two pieces of fish into her mouth, and then started to daydream again.
The group exchanged glances, all sensing the subtle tension in the atmosphere.
"Jiayu, you don't seem to be in a good mood today. Did something happen?" Roommate B asked with concern.
"Yeah, and you actually came to the cafeteria with us today. Didn't we see you eating with our classmate Su Tianqing a few days ago?" Roommate C asked.
Nan Jiayu remained silent, seemingly completely absorbed in her own world.
The roommates were helpless.
This catgirl has a very withdrawn personality. Whenever she encounters something troubling, she keeps it to herself and doesn't say a word, ignoring everyone.
She really is a difficult kitten to tame.
Just as the roommates were quietly discussing how to cheer up the kitten, a golden figure suddenly appeared at the dining table.
"Hey! I knew you'd be here, Little Fish!"
"Why don't you ever read my messages! I've sent you so many! Humph!"
Everyone in the cafeteria turned to look at the source of the pleasant sound.
Nan Jiayu turned her head blankly and met the gaze of the little fox standing by the dining table with its hands on its hips.
She had changed out of her school uniform and into a light yellow dress, her small feet in white satin socks, and wearing a pair of athletic leather shoes. Her long, flowing golden hair was tied back with a ribbon headband, and she stared at Nan Jiayu with dissatisfaction.
"Ah...ah? Ahhh? Sunny? You're not...?"
"Check the news! Check the news!"
The cute little fox pouted, almost bringing its face close to the catgirl's.
"Xiaoyu, you're usually glued to your phone, why are you suddenly not replying to messages!"
Oh no! I completely forgot about my phone!
Nan Jiayu quickly pulled out her phone, opened her chat, and looked at the dozen or so unread red chat bubbles:
"Little Fish, wait for me! I suddenly remembered I didn't hang the clothes I washed this morning to dry!"
"I've changed into a new dress; I went to the store yesterday to buy it~"
"【photo】"
"So, little fish, do you like it?"
"I'm heading out! Little Fish, find me at the subway station entrance!"
"Small fish?"
"Little Fish, are you there?"
"Little Fish, answer me quickly—"
The catgirl looked up blankly.
The little fox in front of me had tears welling up in its eyes, biting its lip lightly, its ears pressed tightly against its head, looking as if it was trying hard not to let the tears fall, which was very endearing.
"Well, you dare to ignore Tianqing's message, Xiaoyu!"
In an instant, the adorable appearance of the golden fox in front of them overwhelmed their rationality, and roommate C immediately jumped to their defense.
"Sorry, Tianqing, Xiaoyu might not have woken up properly today, that's why..." Roommate B played the good cop.
Roommate A, sitting next to Nan Jiayu, remained silent, but quietly pulled the stunned catgirl out of her seat and poked her in front of the little fox.
"I'm sorry... Tianqing... um..."
"snort!"
Fox turned its head away.
But one little hand still grabbed the catgirl's other free hand, and the tearful expression on her face vanished in an instant. She then flashed a peace sign at her roommates and gave a charming smile.
It was definitely an act!
"Thank you everyone, I'll borrow the little fish for now!~"
Su Tianqing tightly gripped the catgirl's hand behind her and ran forward.
Even though they knew the expression on his face was an act, the roommates secretly clenched their fists.
"You're so cute, Tianqing."
"Tianqing-kun... is just too cute..."
"Have fun, you two!"
.
"Ding-dong. We have arrived at Chengdu Tianfu Square. Passengers transferring to Line 1, please disembark as soon as possible..."
"arrive!"
The golden fox excitedly jumped off the seat, and the catgirl quickly grabbed the suddenly excited little fox and walked out of the subway with her.
Tianfu Square was as lively as ever.
Standing on the edge of the spacious green square, Nan Jiayu looked blankly at the bustling residents and tourists, unsure of where to go.
When I first came to Chengdu, my sister and her father took me here for a visit.
Unfortunately, seeing so many people almost triggered my social anxiety, and because of my orc identity, I was the center of attention. I never came to such a crowded place again.
but.
Su Tianqing walked ahead as if no one else was there, completely ignoring the gazes cast upon her by those around her. Bathed in the bright sunlight, she turned to look at him.
"Little Fish! Let's go over there and get something delicious to eat!"
The little fox spoke, her smile radiant and beautiful.
The basement level of the plaza is filled with all kinds of restaurants and shops.
You can see cosplayers posing and striking poses in front of the merchandise stores, and you can also hear the sounds of "I summon the Narcissus Mermaid" coming from a card shop not far away.
As soon as a cute little fox stepped off the elevator, street photographers immediately pointed their cameras at the spot.
Nan Jiayu was about to lower her head and leave quickly, but Su Tianqing made a peace sign at the street photographer without any hesitation, which made the cat girl tremble with fear.
They're absolutely dazzling! I wouldn't dare accept a street photography invitation like that!
We had KFC for lunch.
Although it wasn't Crazy Thursday anymore, this fox was particularly craving chicken legs. While Nan Jiayu was still taking small bites of her cod burger, she had already devoured a whole honey-glazed chicken.
"That fox ate the roast chicken way too fast," Nan Jiayu thought to herself.
Of course, Su Tianqing paid a small price for getting this whole roasted chicken:
"Gurgle...so full...I'm so full..."
Fox lay contentedly on the chair, rubbing its belly, its ears drooping limply on its head, its face radiating the happiness of a full meal.
"Since we've had a full lunch..."
"Little Fish, let's wander around here for a bit to digest our food, and then go play at Green Heart Park!"
"I'm fine with anything, I'll listen to whatever you say."
The cat girl smiled and tilted her head.
Su Tianqing was stunned for a moment, then revealed an even brighter smile.
