Chapter 1991 - 1980: A Humiliating Disgrace
Thinking of this, the girl started trotting over. While she was running, the girl discovered yet another problem with a human form.
Her body was wildly uncoordinated.
With basically no experience walking upright, the girl staggered like a drunk as she ran, wobbling left and right, and finally, under the pull of inertia, fell flat on the ground with a thud.
...
"Could different forms actually mean different personalities?"
Watching the girl with a smile at the corner of her lips and springtime in her eyes, Ning Fan was full of doubt, that ferocious, bloody lizard face popping up in his mind over and over.
No matter how he tried, he just couldn't overlap the two faces.
"What's she running over here for? Is she trying to kill me?"
Thinking of that, Ning Fan shook his head, muttering to himself, "Running that clumsily, she'd have trouble killing a pig, much less a person."
Right now, Ning Fan completely failed to notice that comparing a pig to himself was… not exactly appropriate.
All of his attention was focused entirely on that pair performing the double left-right wobble technique.
"This is… monumental scholarship!"
The sight made Ning Fan's heart ache. He hadn't expected such a slender frame to be bearing such a huge burden.
Then an even more heartbreaking scene played out: the girl suddenly fell.
"I didn't flip the switch though."
Ning Fan muttered in puzzlement and hurriedly ran over.
...
"What a disgrace!"
The unexpected face-plant sent flames of rage surging through the girl, and her eyes were full of sorrow. "Have I gotten this fragile? I actually fall over after just a few steps."
Just then, Ning Fan arrived right on time, but he didn't reach out to help her up, mainly worried it might be a trick.
"You okay?"
"I'm fine."
The girl replied awkwardly. As the Dragon King's successor, she was a figure with status and face; she hadn't expected to disgrace herself this badly in front of a human.
By now the girl had already used her hands to brace herself and stood up.
"Good thing there's no wound."
Before the hot current in his nose could surge out, Ning Fan hurriedly shifted his furtive gaze away.
"Put your, uh, clothes on properly first."
Since she wasn't hurt, the urgent matter was to get the girl decently covered.
"I don't know how to wear it."
That was exactly what Ning Fan had expected. "It's simple, just pull it down over your head."
There were all kinds of brightly colored outfits in the ruins, but Ning Fan had specifically picked an old-fashioned robe for this very reason. He'd never once thought of using this as an excuse to cop a feel or anything.
Doing something like that to a girl "ignorant of the ways of the world" would be way too low. That was not Ning Fan's style.
"Sure enough, when someone's pretty, they look good in anything."
Ning Fan praised inwardly. It was clearly just a drab, grayish robe, yet the girl somehow wore it with the purity of a nun.
Only after watching the girl awkwardly finish putting on the robe did Ning Fan finally feel a bit more at ease. He asked again, "What happened just now? Is there some problem with your human form?"
"Yeah."
The girl bit her lip, looking thoroughly annoyed.
"Looks like it's a big problem too."
Realizing that, Ning Fan asked again, "Where's the problem?"
"Right here. It's all its fault!"
She pointed at her own chest.
"Its true body is an evil dragon."
Thinking back to the evil dragon's pitted, ugly face, Ning Fan suddenly felt a whole lot more relaxed.
But then, when he noticed the girl's exquisite features again…
"If the human form's this gorgeous, who cares if it's an evil dragon."
Ning Fan shook his head, not daring to let his thoughts run wild. The hot flow in his nose was already ready to burst forth at any moment.
Forcing his gaze away with difficulty, Ning Fan tried to sound calm as he asked, "What about it?"
As she complained about how it was a burden and a dead weight that threw off her balance, the girl smacked her chest while grumbling, "It's such a hassle. It just won't behave."
Listening to those crisp slaps that sounded like they were landing right on his own heart, Ning Fan said painfully, "Yeah, it's really misbehaving, I'll help you teach them a lesson…"
Realizing something was off, Ning Fan hurriedly shut his mouth.
"Hm? Then you do it."
The girl generously dropped her hands. "Best if you can make them disappear, they're such a hassle."
"That's just a crime against heavenly treasure. You have no idea how many flat ones would envy you."
Seeing that pair of eyes like Black Pearls turn toward him, the excited Ning Fan felt like he'd been thrown onto an iceberg, instantly cooling down.
But the very next second, it was like he'd been tossed into a vat of boiling oil, his face flushing so red it looked like it might drip blood.
"Actually, it's no big deal."
As he spoke, Ning Fan gently reminded her, "Pull your collar up. It'd be bad if they got frozen."
"I'd be happy if they froze."
Though that was what she said, the girl still obediently did as she was told.
Gazing at the ruins stretching before her eyes, the girl frowned in displeasure. She didn't like this kind of place.
"Can we go out now?"
"Sure!"
Right after he said it, Ning Fan realized, "Actually, not yet."
"Why not?"
The girl asked again, "Are we going to build a nest here in the future?"
Ning Fan shook his head. "It's not time to go out yet."
The girl clearly didn't understand the ways of the world. If she just walked into human society like this, who knew how much trouble she'd cause.
Even though her human form wasn't as powerful as her dragon form, her racial foundation was still there.
Don't be fooled by her delicate, slender figure; the brute strength hidden in that body was enough to blow a normal person's mind.
Stuff like ripping ghosts apart with her bare hands or slapping coffin nails in with her palm would be nothing but appetizers.
Those were secondary, though. With Ning Fan watching from the side, things probably wouldn't get bloody.
The real issue was that although the girl was in human form, her mind was still that of a dragon.
Just picturing that scenario made Ning Fan shiver. "I've absolutely got to get her familiar with human rules. At the bare minimum, she needs to understand that running around stark naked is a very bad thing."
"But how am I supposed to teach her?"
If Ning Fan were some pervert with weird Attributes, he'd definitely walk over with a lecherous grin and personally, physically demonstrate so the girl could learn properly.
But the key thing was…
"I'm a man with boundaries. I can't bring myself to say such embarrassing things."
Under the girl's puzzled gaze, Ning Fan suddenly slapped his forehead and then shouted, "Got it—I totally forgot about her!"
"Who? There's someone else here?"
The girl looked around in confusion. All she saw were broken walls and shattered tiles, not a ghost in sight.
"How could I forget Mary."
Light flashed from Ning Fan's sleeve, and a beam of white shot out.
Seeing Mary suddenly appear on the ground, the girl curled her lips. "Just a ghost."
