Chapter 1985 - 1974: You Dare Tease Me
"But what if it insists on staying here?"Thinking of this, Ning Fan's gaze turned cold. If it truly comes to this, he can only stay in Ryan Town, accompanying the Black Dragon until it is exhausted to death.
Only then can Ning Fan leave with peace of mind.
Otherwise, once the Light of Life runs out and the Black Dragon breaks through the void and leaves, the matter will escalate drastically.
"I've already told you everything you need to know."
As he spoke, the Black Dragon pleaded, "Can you help me now?"
"If I said I'm powerless to help, would you believe me?"
Once Ning Fan has made up his mind, his tone of speech improves significantly.
"You... you dare to tease me."
The Black Dragon growled angrily, swinging its head fiercely and tossing Ning Fan aside.
Ning Fan stepped onto the void, walking step by step towards the Black Dragon and gently advised, "Calm down."
"You damned bug dare deceive me."
The Black Dragon, long unable to bear the humiliation, angrily and instinctively spat out a Dragon Flame.
"Have I recovered?"
Seeing the brown fireball flying out—although smaller in size than before—it was undoubtedly a genuine Dragon Flame.
Thinking of being able to use Divine Power, the Black Dragon spoke coldly, "I will devour you, this despicable little man, alive."
Suddenly, the Dragon Flame surged directly toward Ning Fan's face, and then...
Then nothing happened.
Ning Fan, able to devour the Demon Dragon Refining Kill Formation, certainly wouldn't be afraid of the mere Dragon Flame of a Demigod.
The Black Dragon's Dragon Flame didn't leave even a mark on Ning Fan.
The Dark Element carried by the Dragon Flame was instantly consumed by the Light of Life upon entry into the body.
"You change faces faster than a dog."
Having been spat in the face, Ning Fan's expression turned grim as he said, "I see you've forgotten your previous lesson."
"What do you mean by that?"
As the words fell, the Black Dragon felt something was wrong. The unbearably painful sensation began to appear again.
"How can this be? Haven't I recovered?"
In extreme anger, the Black Dragon tossed Ning Fan out, immediately regretting its actions.
Just as it was about to regret its impulse, it found the pain hadn't come.
It then naturally assumed that it had recovered.
Otherwise, with Ning Fan's cunning, he would have instantly withdrawn spiritual power.
That's the reason the Black Dragon decided to exact revenge for new and old grudges alike.
But now, the sudden onset of pain made the Black Dragon realize things weren't as they seemed.
"I can't believe it, you are ungrateful. You think you're fully recovered, don't you?"
Ning Fan sneered coldly, then with a thought, he withdrew the spiritual power from the Black Dragon's body.
When faced with the Black Dragon's change in attitude, Ning Fan didn't hold a grudge. Instead, he hoped to have a proper conversation, unaware that this Barbaric Dragon would turn on him.
"No... stop..."
The Black Dragon roared out, soon overwhelmed by a tidal wave of pain.
Watching the Black Dragon roll around in agony for about five minutes, Ning Fan calmly asked, "Are you calm now?"
"Calm... calm now."
Ning Fan continued to ask, "Can we have a proper discussion now?"
The Black Dragon nodded frantically; the intense pain made it unable to speak.
"This is your last chance. If you're still not honest, I will turn and leave."
After speaking, Ning Fan injected spiritual power into the Black Dragon's body, enveloping a small part of the Light of Life so it could feel pain without affecting communication.
As the Black Dragon glared at him with hatred, Ning Fan wasn't angry but instead said, "Have you ever thought about why you're still alive?"
The Black Dragon sneered, "What do you mean by that?"
"You haven't forgotten the Demon Dragon Refining Kill Formation, have you?"
Ning Fan prompted, "You should certainly remember the pain of flesh and scales being burned away."
"That was due to the Dragon God's protection."
The Black Dragon spoke without hesitation, having contemplated this earlier and even believed that Ning Fan survived the Forbidden Spell due to its own protection.
Ning Fan laughed heartily, "Ridiculous. If the Dragon God truly protected you, it wouldn't have left you burnt to ashes."
The Black Dragon fell into silence. If the Dragon God had protected it, it should have been saved when caught in the Forbidden Spell.
Or rescued from the Forbidden Spell before the Dragon Crystal vanished.
The Black Dragon remembered clearly, watching its Dragon Crystal being burned away bit by bit in despair before succumbing to slumber.
In logical terms, the Black Dragon knew the idea of Divine Dragon protection was practically impossible.
The Dragon Clan acknowledges only one Dragon God: the Ancestral Dragon God.
Strictly speaking, other ancestral Dragon Gods can only be called Dragon Kings.
Since the true Ancestral Dragon God had perished and became a belief among the Dragon Clan, they started using the phrase "Dragon God protection."
Yet, with only the two of them present at the time, the Black Dragon preferred to believe in the presence of Divine Dragon protection rather than accept another possibility.
"Do you mean you saved me?"
Disdain flickered through the Black Dragon's eyes.
Is Ning Fan strong?
In the Black Dragon's view, Ning Fan was merely a strong bug without the qualifications to compete with it.
The Black Dragon thought itself a mighty beast brought low by circumstances, its recovery incomplete and condition poor resulting in its current state.
Having painstakingly waited for its injuries to heal and body return to Peak status, it encountered the issue of Divine Power rampaging.
If not for external factors, the Black Dragon was confident in thrashing Ning Fan badly.
But fate kept pulling tricks on it, always failing at the crucial moment.
"This despicable scoundrel is merely lucky."
That's the Black Dragon's view of Ning Fan, entirely dismissing his abilities.
Ning Fan was unaware of the Black Dragon's thoughts, naturally stating, "Exactly. I've saved you for the second time."
"Second time?"
The Black Dragon realized its shattered Dragon Crystal could indeed be reformed, thanks to Ning Fan's Divine Power.
But to claim Ning Fan rescued it from the Forbidden Spell was hard to believe, prompting it to demand, "Proof."
Ning slightly raised his eyebrows, "Your survival is the best proof, isn't it?"
"This proves nothing."
This was the power of a Forbidden Spell; the Black Dragon didn't believe this mortal had the ability to break it or assist in restoring the Dragon Crystal.
"Heh... why do you think your Divine Power ran rampant?"
Seeing the Black Dragon's silence, Ning Fan recounted the sequence of events roughly but deliberately omitted the new body and Light of Life, referring to it simply as Divine Power per the Black Dragon's remark.
"You say you devoured the Forbidden Spell's power!"
When that was said, the Black Dragon was utterly skeptical, even hinting a laugh in its eyes—a mocking expression.
"I know you don't believe it, but it's the truth."
Ning Fan spoke calmly, "I devoured the powers of the nine ancestral Dragon Gods."
Before Ning Fan could finish, the Black Dragon, somewhat urgent, interjected, "And then?"
